As we drift past week 12, and the quarter way mark, it’s Spartak Cheese who have taken the initiative, by matching Jolly Rogers record breaking 2015/16 score of 454 for this stage of the season.
Lucchesi is having a PB season, scoring 129 points more at this stage than his Championship winning season of 2012/13. For some, it’s already looking like an impossible task to catch him up, but for manager Walters, the season is far from over:
"Gloves are off at Wheelers. While others resign, we are focussed. 10 pts a week for 9 weeks and he will be back in our range. We are coming for you Michael."
"His squad doesn’t worry me in the slightest. The winner is hiding in the pack."
Walters comments maybe couldn’t be more true, for 50 Shades, Under Pressure and Butt Kickers are all way above championship winning averages and are all currently on track to top 1500. Defending Champions Atletico Magicmen are also only 15 points off where they were last year and are still confident, despite sitting in 6th place:
"It’s all about the long game for us. We are tracking nicely along our planned title defence line, and the squad hasn’t even started to deliver it’s true potential. We’re only 3 goals off where our auction plan has us."
Jermy Senior went on to reveal who he sees as the main contender:
"It has to be Peggs. Scores of 41, 40, 43, 40, 42, 41 and 45 haven’t gone unnoticed. There’s your constant performer, right there."
After a 6 week stint at number 1, 50 Shades of O’Shea were knocked off the top of the table this week, as Spartak Cheese brushed past with a 50 point haul.
Pritchard’s men have failed to breach the thirty points mark for two consecutive weeks, and Lucchesi has taken full advantage, opening up a 14 point lead in the process.
News broke of his achievement whilst manager Lucchesi was showering after a hard session in the gym:
"We're on Cloud 9! I am utterly delighted to be back in amongst the mix. For the first season in a long time there’s a bit of balance to the team and the scoring is being spread around. Let’s hope we stay injury free and keep putting points on the board so we can create some daylight. That said, it’s still early doors and we’ve seen teams at both ends of the table put 60 points up so anything is possible."
After an explosive start to the competition last week, the SFP Cup serves up more classic head to heads this week.
In Group B, it's already a top of the table clash, as Butt Kickers take on Willian Dollar Baby Jesus. SFP Stalwarts Peggs and Lucchesi meet once more, both hoping to get off the mark after last weeks defeats. And concluding the Group B set of fixtures are league leaders 50 Shades against Inter Yourmum FC.
In Group A Just The Tip kick off their cup campaign against group table toppers Bayern Munson. Old foes Walters and Dale go head to head, again both looking for a win after last weeks defeats, and there is another battle to keep a 100% record as Atletico Magicmen take on The A Team.
It's The A Team who may just be quietly growing in confidence, after a 1:0 win last week over one of the clubs biggest antagonizers, Wheeler Dealers. Edwards isn't getting carried away:
"Early days, but a welcome win. Wheels really have come off for Walters this season so far, but can't write him off just yet."
"We have had an issue finding a decent number 9, so it's good to see the whole squad chipping in with goals each week. About time Dele found his shooting boots - maybe this is the weekend."

After a far too long International break, SFP action returns this weekend, and with it the SFP Cup.
A huge thank you yet again to Spartak Cheese manager Michael Lucchesi, who has once again hosted the SFP Cup draw, live this year from the back of a taxi in Bangkok.
The draw has thrown up a couple of mouth-watering ties to kick things off. In Group A Wheeler Dealers take on The A Team, Rob-O-Klopp face Atletico Magicmen while Bayern Munsen go head-to-head with Perdoc Byzeusthains, with both hoping to get their seasons going with a decent cup run.
In Group B Under Pressure face Willian Dollar Baby Jesus, while tie of the group sees Spartak Cheese take on the holders Butt Kickers. Concluding the first round is Crackers vs Inter Yourmum, who both seem to have offended one of the draw masters and will be facing official investigations.

After an incredible month, which saw him smash PBs and enter the 200 club for the first time, Pritch Snr walks away with the September manager fo the month award.
With his Man City, Tottenham, Burnley and Chelsea defenders having near perfect months, and with Lukaku on fire in front of goal, it's little wonder that Pritch becomes the first manager ever to break 200 in September.
Having said all of that, Michael Lucchesi has also had the best month of his life, hitting over 200 for the 2nd time in his career, shooting him up from 12th to 2nd in four weeks.
For the second month in a row, it's Q who finds himself at the bottom of the pile, drifting further away from those ahead of him. Can he turn things around quickly?
